Travel and arrival in Minnesota

We chose to fly into Duluth MN and drive a rental car the remaining 1 hour 45 minutes to Ely.  That evening all of the team members and Wintergreen guides gathered for dinner and some basic instruction in winter camping.  Normally, all team members would stay in the Wintergreen Lodge and enjoy some pre-trip fellowship, including a hearty dinner and breakfast.  However, due to Covid-19 restrictions this dinner was held outside near a campfire.  At only 3 degrees Fahrenheit, this was a serious foreshadowing of the coming days when 3 degrees would feel relatively comfortable.  The two of us slept that night alone in a very nice warm cabin rented for us by the Wintergreen Lodge.
