After family time both in Southern California and Arizona, we made it back to Michigan in mid August. We have unpacked and cleaned our gear and are settling back in to “normal” life.
The plan is to hike the remaining 986.3 miles and reach the northern terminus in 2024. Depending on snow conditions, we’ll start in the Sierras in early July and finish by the end of August.
Statistics: Start: March 16, 2023 – End: August 11, 2023
Hiked Miles: Total PCT miles 1668.8. Total trail closure miles: 21.4 miles. Total miles actually hiked: 1647.4 miles. Mexican Border, CA -> Mulkey Pass, CA = 745.7 miles. Old Station, CA -> White Pass, WA = 923.1 miles
PCT Miles Remaining = 986.3 miles. Mulkey Pass – mm 745.7 to Old Station – 1374.5 mm = 628.8 miles White Pass – 2297.6 mm to Northern Terminus (Canada) – 2655.1 mm = 357.5 miles
Total actual days on trail: 125 (plus 24 days of non-PCT related events). Total zeros: 15 days (no miles hiked). Total neros: 9 days (hiked less than 10 miles)
Highest mileage day: 25.7 miles from Rockslide Lake to Breitenhaus CG in Oregon on July 13.
Highest ascent: 5950 ft – Panther Creek CG to Blue Lake in Washington on July 23. Total ascent: 256k ft – Total descent: 264.3k ft
