In the winter of 2026 we purchased a square drop trailer from Hiker Trailer with the goal of doing a great road trip to the Arctic and Alaska. We wanted something that would be easy to tow and easy to set up once at camp. After a couple of weeks we named our camper Waldo and our truck Red – for obvious reasons.
We left our home on July 15th and returned home September 2nd. We drove about 10,780 miles of which 1,300 miles were on dirt and gravel roads. We used 440 gallons of fuel with an average cost of $4.61 per gallon. Our 2025 Ford Maverick hybrid AWD truck averaged about 24.6 miles per gallon.
It was a great adventure. Click on the links below for more details and on our You Tube videos.
