Day 13 – Rest (Zero) Day

0 trail miles / 6 walking miles within town (a “rest” day)

Today was spent doing chores in town. After breakfast and some planning for the next few days, we called the only “taxi” in town for a ride to the laundromat (really just a lady with a car and a phone). We changed into our rain gear, put all our clothes in the laundry, and then walked to the taco truck next door … some of the best food in town!  Once laundry was done, we changed back into our clean hiking clothes and walked to the Safeway store to resupply for the next leg of our journey.

The taxi was now unavailable, so we walked another mile to the downtown area with our laundry and grocery bags. How spoiled are we back home with our houses and cars?  With “hiker hunger” still raging, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant for chips and salsa, guacamole, and margaritas.  Eventually we made it back to our hotel room where Ellen promptly took a nap!

Later we walked back to downtown for dinner at the Tennessee Pass Cafe. We finalized our plans for the rest of the week and then went to bed.  What a nice relaxing day!
