JMT mile 96.3
Miles hiked today: 12.4
Site elevation: 9,210’
After our refreshing “bath” yesterday we were ready to attack our next challenge.
We continued our way down Silver Pass. We switchbacked down the side of a mountain next to a waterfall into Pocket Meadow.

Towards the bottom along the main creek we stopped for lunch, soaked our feet and got ready for the next climb.

Bear Ridge was a straight up shot on a pretty nice trail. No big boulders or giant steps. Most of the day we’ve been watching some storm clouds and sure enough it started raining as we made it to the top of Bear Ridge.

It continued to rain until we found a campsite near a big creek. We had just set up camp when someone shouted Jeff’s name. It was the Dutch boys (Joep and Luuk)! Apparently they had camped the night before at Silver Pass lake near Ken and Jolene just a couple of miles behind us. It was cool to see them again.
It started to rain again. Jeff and Ellen ate dinner in the rain but Luuk and Joep had to abandon dinner and we were all in our tents by 6:30pm.
Still enjoying ourselves despite the rain.
